چکیده
In Iraq, Awassi is the most widespread sheep breed on non-European origin. The adapt to a wide range of environmental conditions. Sheep farming, mainly breed, represents an essential economic activity Iraq; however, so far, only very few genetic data exist this breed. present study was performed in Biology Department, University Zakho. Thirty two Blood samples were obtained from Awassi-Iq (Ovis aries) three farms located Nineveh province, Iraq. Genomic DNA extraction using Extraction kit, Jena Bioscience GmbH (Germany). Specific marker (GenBank: NC001942) amplifying 550 bps fragments mitochondrial DNA. PCR products separated by electrophoresis 1.5% agarose gel, visualized staining with RedSafe dye, and photographed. Ten sequenced compared sequences other countries available NCB1.The main results indicate Awassi- 1q Aries) share similarity both Chines Tibetan breed(Linzhou) ; Iranian (91.37%) respectively, Iraqi breeds Hamdani Nima (91.62%) respectively Ovis aries AKK- 46 Turkey (92.35%). However, shown be monophyletic, out group diverged earlier than related (Turkey, Iran, China). This highlights importance Mitochondrial analysis breeds.

Mitochondrial DNA Variation in Indigenous Sheep (Ovis aries) Breeds of Nepal
Nepal borders India in the south and China in the north. Four distinct indigenous domestic sheep breed, i.e. Bhyanglung in the alpine region, Baruwal in the high hills, Kage in the mid hills and Lampuchhre in the low lands are distributed in the country. In this study, the mitochondrial DNA control region of 111 sheep from these four breeds was directly sequenced to determine their genetic vari...
متن کاملSequence Variations of Mitochondrial DNA Displacement-Loop in Iranian Indigenous Sheep Breeds
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) has been used extensively to study population genetics because it has the unique features of maternal inheritance, a relatively fast rate of evolution and lack of recombination. A total of 82 unrelated sheep from 10 Iranian indigenous sheep breeds were investigated to determinate the maternal genetic diversity using a sequence of a 685 bp segment of the displacement lo...
متن کاملMitochondrial DNA variability in Gyimesi Racka and Turcana sheep breeds.
The current knowledge and documentation on the origins and relationship between Gyimesi Racka reared in Hungary and the Romanian Turcana is rather controversial. Lack of information and scientific reliable proofs for the divergent theories found in the two countries motivated us to implement a trial using molecular methods to assess the genetic distance and diversity in the two breeds. Hair fol...
متن کاملPhylogenetic Position of a Copper Age Sheep (Ovis aries) Mitochondrial DNA
BACKGROUND Sheep (Ovis aries) were domesticated in the Fertile Crescent region about 9,000-8,000 years ago. Currently, few mitochondrial (mt) DNA studies are available on archaeological sheep. In particular, no data on archaeological European sheep are available. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Here we describe the first portion of mtDNA sequence of a Copper Age European sheep. DNA was extract...
متن کاملMitochondrial DNA and IQ in Europe
Recently a mitochondrial DNA polymorphism (EST00083) was found at significantly different frequencies in high IQ and low IQ groups in two independent studies. We have used mitochondrial sequences from a range of populations to show that this polymorphism occurred more than once in human history. Furthermore, the polymorphism is particularly common in Europe where it is predominantly associated ...
